Plant growing

Agricultural production secures the supply with food, feeds and renewable resources. Agriculturaly used areas (arable farming) and areas used for horticulture, vegetable, fruit and wine-growing serve the production of plant products. Agricultural utilisation comprises mainly the production of cereals incl. grain maize, oilseeds (soy bean, rape and bird rape, oil sunflower) and protein plants (field beans, grain peas and sweet strains of fodder lupin).
Ensuring agricultural production requires the proper use and sufficient provision of input like seeds, plant protection products, fertilisers, and fodder according to the criteria of a good agricultural practice. The aids for arable crops paid in the framework of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and the environmental programmes intended to promote rural development (ÖPUL) provide the basis for an ecologically and economically sound agricultural production.
